These courses offer the student an introduction to the Defensive Shotgun. Basic fundamentals for safety, storage, handling, carrying, ammo selection, proper fit, point and aim, malfunctions, loading and reloading, patterns, zero and more are covered.

Level-I Battle Shotgun 1st Dimension Course Overview

Level-I Battle Shotgun 1st Dimension consist of 1-day (8 hours) during daylight hours, at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility (located in north phoenix), introducing students to various skills for employing the Battle Shotgun as a defensive lethal tool. Course study areas include; Gun Safety, Loading/Unloading/Reloading, Shoot-and-Move, Shooting-on-the-Move, Kneeling Position, Carry Methods, Ready Conditions, Various Types of Ammo Loads, Obtaining Close Range Zero, Selective Loads, Multiple Targets, understanding Shot Patterns and Effectiveness, and More.....

 
STUDENT PREPARATIONS

Student should be familiar with their shotgun. If not, they should take time to study the manual or seek help from a reliable source to become familiar with the safe operation, features and functions of their shotgun. Students should be familiar and confident to load, clean their firearm, and all the specific features and functions of their make and model firearm.

Also students should know and commit to memory the following GUN SAFETY HANDLING RULES:

1. All GUNS are always LOADED
2. NEVER let the MUZZLE cover anything YOU are not willing to DESTROY
3. KEEP your FINGER(s) OFF the trigger until your sights are on target
4. KNOW your TARGET, what is beyond, to both sides, above, below, in front and behind.
5. CONTROL your weapons, THEY are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

 
STUDENT PROVIDED EQUIPMENT

- Safe and adequate Eye and Ear Protection.
- Safe and functional Defensive Type Shotgun.
- Defensive Type Practice ammunition;
     - 50 rounds of bird shot (6, 6.5, 7 or 8's).
     - 80 rounds of 00 buck shot.
     - 40 rounds of slugs.
- Casual wear for the possible changing weather conditions (this is a rain or shine class).
- Adequate foot gear to protect against possible desert insects and varmints.
- Knee pads.
- Sun screen if you have sensitive skin.
- Gun cleaning equipment, in case it is necessary.

Optional Gear:
- Recoil should pad.
- Receiver side mounted ammo carrier (side saddle).
- Belt mounted ammo carrier and/or drop bag.
- Tactical sling.
