Battle Endurance Course
Descriptionlast updated 03-21-10
The Battle Endurance 2nd Dimension Course is 2 days of structured Battle Pistol and Battle Carbine skills development, and utilization, through scenario and logic based challenges, intermixed with physical demanding challenges. It starts at 0500 hours Saturday and runs through 2100 hours Sunday. This is a crucible designed to introduce students to the extreme demands of combat stress and discipline. The Battle Endurance course can most accurately be described as 40 hours of wilderness desert hell training. Not all students successfully complete this course, with a drop out rate of 50%. There are no refunds, there is no mercy....this course is for the physically fit, which will also challenge the mind. Students are required to have basic knowledge and skills training, with both pistol and carbine, as well as provide the minimum equipment requirements.
Concentrating on small unit patrolling, both Ha-a-cidi and LRRP type, this course explores caches and self-supply utilizing both heavy loads as well as light and fast techniques.
This course is designed to challenge students to endure conditions beyond what they normally encounter during other, skills specific, training. The challenges in this course offer the student the opportunity to use their firearms and tactical skills, in combination with the selected equipment, in extreme stress situations over an extended period of time.
Students entering this course should be well founded in the basic marksmanship and tactical handling of both the Battle Pistol and Battle Carbine. Students should provide the following armament for this course along with associated operational, repair and maintenance equipment:
· Handgun - 9mm, 40 S&W, or 45 ACP caliber with a magazine capacity minimum of 12 rounds
(magazines loaded with 12 rounds [1911 type guns minimum magazine capacity of 7 rounds,
loaded with 7 rounds]).
· Carbine - AR-15, M-4, M-16, AK-47 in 223 or 7.62x39 caliber with a minimum magazine capacity
of 30 rounds (magazine loaded with 28 rounds).
Students should be prepared to address the physical challenges of this course which include, crawling, jumping, running, climbing, standing, sitting, and laying for long periods. Students will be challenged with physical obstacles such as walls, water, ropes, wire, rocks, cactus, rain, cold, heat, and long hours. Students should be in good physical condition before attempting this course. Students should be flexible and able to pull their own body weight. Students with current back, elbow, knee, ankle or other such conditions, or heart condition history, should consider not attempting this course. This course is not impossible. It is however, a crucible designed and conducted to be difficult.
Students can expect to be wet, cold, hot, dry, stuck with cactus, incur minor injuries such as splinters, skin abrasions and minor cuts and bruises. This is a boot camp where adult students have only five recourses, either finish the course as commanded, DOR (dropped on request), fail to meet minimum requirements, wash out due to an injury incurred during the course (DOM, Dropped on Medical), or be expelled.
